The greens are excellent after the recent renovations and the course generally is in great condition thanks to the efforts of the course staff and member volunteers.
Last Thursday 85 players played a Medley Single Stableford in two divisions. Michael Nugent produced the best round of the day scoring 39 points off a handicap of 17. Paul Ryan (11 handicap) was second on 36.
Division 2 was won by John Patterson (36) with 38 on a countback from Robert Freebairn (29).
Nearest the pins went to Bruce Berry on 3, Keith Elphick on 5, Uri Linen on 7, Tim Standing on 8 while Sue Nichols won the pizza, Tim Standing the 15th and Drew Glasson once again took the money shot on 18. Balls went to 32 on a countback.
On Saturday 90 players went out in threatening weather to again play a Medley Single Stableford. Fortunately the rain held off and Peter Morriss (16) was one of five players to score 38 points to take out Divison 1 on a countback from Tim Standing (6) who was second.
Division 2 saw Harry the Dog Parnell (32) miraculously score 38 to win from Les Mohr (24) on 36. NTPs went to Stuart Johnston on Sladie’s 3rd hole, Rob Coneybeare on the 5th, Greg McCoy on the 7th, Trevor Peter on the 8th, Stuart Johnston also won the pizza hole while Phil Shields won Stuart’s ball on 15 and Denys Tobin collected on 18. Balls again went to 32 on a countback.
Next week we have a nine-hole competition open to all on Monday and a Medley Single Stableford on Thursday and Saturday. And look forward to the River Sunday which is an Open 4BBB Medley with a shotgun start at 11am. Visitors are most welcome.
