Peta has performed principal roles with the Australian Opera and Queensland Opera and returns to Coffs Harbour ahead of her major annual event, Opera in the Paddock.
Peta will be accompanied at the gallery by international pianist John Woods and special guest artist Peter Morgan on clarinet and saxophone.
The trio will entertain music lovers to a collection of rhapsodic works by Shield, Schubert and Mendelssohn, and for a Spanish-Latin American twist, music by DeFalla and Piazolla.
In support of building the gallery’s collection, volunteer group ‘Friends of Coffs Harbour Regional Gallery’ will have drinks available during the evening, with proceeds towards future acquisitions.
The community group of art lovers, lead by President Heather McKinnon, said the event helps to showcase the gallery as a vibrant space for artistic pursuits.
“This is a special opportunity for locals to experience a first class operatic voice in an intimate performance, surrounded by the gallery’s current exhibition,” Ms McKinnon said.
“Enjoy a magical evening listening to fine music with a glass of wine, while raising funds for the gallery’s future collection.”
Rhapsody at the Gallery by Opera North West is on Saturday, March 18 at 5.30pm for 6 o’clock at the Regional Gallery. Tickets are $28 for adults, $25 for pensioner concession and $15 for students.
