With a total of 14 games played between the sides, it was always pegged to be a long day.
Opens coach Vicki Wassens said carnivals were a great opportunity for smaller associations to get court time ahead of state championships in June.
“We always expect the first carnival to be a test and our first real starting point,” she said. “This forms the basis of how we train and where we go from now.
“The girls didn't disappoint, they really put it all out there on the court.
“Due to a few injuries on the day, and the loss of Britt Ramsey to future endeavours, some new combinations had to be played in … and the girls rose to the challenge.”
NSW under 19s netball coach Pate Cooper was on hand in Grafton providing tips for willing coaches and teams.
“She watched a couple of our games and some of the 17s, and said there was real potential within the group,” Vicki said.
“I’m looking forward to the season as we move forward especially with another hit out at Hastings next week.”
All Nambucca Valley netball representative sides, from the under 11s development squad through to opens, will hit out again this weekend in Port Macquarie.
