Steve was working on his property at Congarinni when the tractor he was driving overturned and rolled down a steep embankment.
He was found at the bottom of a 45-degree embankment and once paramedics had stabilised him at the scene, he was airlifted to hospital.
In an effort to help, Jack Stanton of GJ Kennedy & Co and Steve Green are organising the ‘Steve Wood Muster’ on Wednesday, March 22.
“We are seeking support from local farmers to donate a beast to the muster to be sold at the Macksville saleyards,” Jack said.
“We’ve already had quite a lot of interest and a number of parties have indicated their intent to donate.”
A whole beast can be donated with the entire sale price going to supporting Steve or alternatively, owners can choose to donate a percentage of the profit from their sale.
“G J Kennedy & Co will not be charging any commission on the sale of the Steve Wood Muster donated cattle – all proceeds will go to supporting Steve and his family throughout his rehabilitation process.”
The donated cattle will be sold at 9am, first items on the sale list.
Steve Green said many people would have heard of Steve’s accident and he asked people to dig deep to give something back to a man who has given so much to the community.
“You would have come across Steve at a number of local events, at his workshop - Steve Wood Brake and Exhaust, at the Country Club, or maybe you grew up with him,” he said.
“Steve has always been there for our local community and now he needs our support.”
If you would like more information or to donate a beast to the Steve Wood Muster, contact Jack Stanton on 0423 053 840 or Jesse Stanton on 0432 187 075.
“The GJ Kennedy & Co team and Steve Green look forward to the farming community's support to this worthy cause,” Jack said.
