THERE is nothing us Aussies love more than a good snake video – with our slithering neighbours always providing some great entertainments.

Here is five of our favourite snake videos from 2016.

1: Video of snake eating snake goes viral

A video of what is believed to be a Mulga snake eating a brown snake on a property near St George has become a social media sensation.

St George’s Rod Avery shot the video after a long day lamb marking on Burgorah, 15km north east of St George.

2: ‘Only in Australia’: Snake stops play

Dugites are native to Western Australia, you mightn’t be familiar with them.

You probably are aware of cricket games being held up for all many of reasons – rain, bushfire, heat. Now add dugite to that list.

Thanks to Clinton Joynes who shared this video of an unexpected visitor to Halls Head Junior Cricket Club's match in Meadow Springs this morning.

3: Blue-tongue lizard faces down black snake in Merimbula

What happens when a blue-tongued lizard comes face to face with a red-bellied black snake?

A Merimbula man had a front row seat to the showdown on Thursday while working on a home in Long Point.

4: Black-headed pythons fight for love

It may look like a scene from Dirty Dancing, but this footage taken on Toomba Station, Charters Towers, captures two male black-headed pythons fighting for the right to breed with a nearby female.

The video was shot by property owner Josephine Heading who shared it back with her local natural resource management group, NQ Dry Tropics.

5: Woman finds red-bellied black snake hiding in pocket of recliner chair

A woman had a rude awakening while relaxing at home on a property just outside Bega.

“I was sitting in my recliner on Tuesday morning (June) looking for my glasses and I reached down to a side pocket and there was something cold and slimy in there,” a shocked Joyce Parbery said.
