A CREATIVE initiative of the shire’s NAIDOC Committee has seen three local artists donate their works to brighten the walls of the Nambucca Valley Dialysis Unit.

Denise Buchanan, Francine Edwards and Annalisa Wilson were approached by the NAIDOC committee to paint a canvas of their interpretations of the NAIDOC theme for 2016: Songlines.

Once the works were completed and unveiled during NAIDOC, the committee decided, with the artists’ permission, to donate all three to the Nambucca Valley Dialysis Unit, where a number of Gumbaynggirr elders are among the patients.

On Monday the paintings were officially handed over to the unit, much to everyone’s delight.

“The trees are amazing – they add colour to the unit brightening up the walls,” April Pritchard said.
