AUSTRALIA Day will be a hoot for the whole valley again this year, with a major celebration again being hosted by the Nambucca Heads Lions Club.

The big party will centre on the banks of the river at Gordon Park, and major sponsors include the Nambucca Heads and Valla Chamber of Commerce, the Nambucca Heads RSL Club, Nambucca Shire Council and the Guardian News.
The beneficiaries this year will be the Nambucca Heads Parkinson’s Support Group. A raffle will be conducted to this end, with first prize being $1000. Tickets will be on sale throughout this month.
The Australia Day Planning committee has a number of activities in line, starting from 7am at Gordon Park.
These include a fun run followed by a raft race, paddle boards, dragon boats, kite flying demonstrations, kayaks, Hot Shot tennis, Nambucca Band, live country music, boot scooters, ukulele playing, line dancing, crab racing and auction, and food and market stalls.
There will literally be something for all ages.
Now is the time to get ready for the raft race which will go from the V-Wall to Gordon Park.
Build a raft with family, mates or colleges. Have the raft at the V-Wall at 9.30am for the 10.30am start of the race.
Entry forms to be completed on the day.
All participants must wear a life iacket.
