Guest speaker will be Shane Green, Roads and Maritime Services project manager for the Warrell Creek to Urunga highway upgrade, who will provide an update on the project and an insight into the challenges and opportunities for all concerned.
Chamber member Jan Baker said local businesses had been proactive in their approach to the bypass, including sending information packs to prospective bypass employees.
“We’ve been sending visitor information and real estate contacts to people,” Mrs Baker said.
“There are about 50 families moving to the region for the project, many of them have kids, who need to go to school.
“We just want to make them feel welcome.”
She said while the community was pleased to finally have a solution to the traffic safety issues that had plagued the town for so long, research had shown that
following such changes, it took around five years for businesses to recover.
“This is why we are working so hard now to put Urunga on the map and keep it there.”
