The winner for 2018, announced on March 8, was Aunty Bea Ballangarry, the well-respected Gumbaynggirr elder and inspirational mentor to women of all ages.
She received a plaque, certificate and cash prize of $1000 towards her work with women and girls.
The International Women’s Day Committee is now seeking nominations for the 2019 Coffs Coast Woman of the Year.
Nominations are sought for suitable women who are able to meet the following criteria:
- Demonstrates significant leadership and achievement in empowering women and girls;
- Is engaged in work of a voluntary, community, business or professional nature; and
- Is a resident of the Coffs Coast (Coffs Harbour Local Government Area and Bellingen Shire).
The Awards are $1000 for the winner, sponsored by Coffs Harbour City Council and C.ex Group ClubGRANTS, and $250 for a runner up sponsored by One Agency Coffs Harbour.

The Committee will hold an information session to assist with writing to the guidelines 5.30pm – 7.00pm on Wednesday October 17 in the Boardroom of the ANZ Bank on corner of Gordon Street and Harbour Drive. Please RSVP to iwdcoffscoast@gmail.com.
Applications open 1 October and close 18 November 2018.
Winners will be announced at the International Women’s Day breakfast on 8 March 2019.
