Paul O’Neill reports – winners last Thursday for social bowls were Gino Vitagliani, Laurie Summers and Chris Dawson who were also lucky enough to pick up the winning rink jackpot. Names in by 12.30 for a 1 o’clock start this arvo.
Pennants action on Saturday saw the 4s travel up to Woolgoolga for a stoush on their synthetic surface. The lads picked up one rink to go down 53-69. The 6s hosted Macksville and showed improvement in their 40-76 loss. This weekend the 4s will take on North Beach at home while the 6s take a breather and get the bye. Names are on the board and remember the start time is 12.30, be there by midday at the latest. Go Bowra!
Macksville Men
Kevin Scott reports – the game determination for Thursday for Social Bowls was the winners with the most ends and they were Frank Davies, Keith McDonald and Stan Moc with 12 ends from Bill Wit, Alan Everson and Adam Laird also with 12 ends. The jackpot of $147 was not won.
The results of the pennants on Saturday saw the No.6s Macksville defeat Bowraville 76 shots to 40 for a 10-nil win while the No.7s Macksville defeated North Beach 68 shots to 53 for a 9 points to 1 win.
On Sunday the final of the Fours Championship was played with Frank Davies, Brent Liddell, Bob Antcliff, and Adam Laird defeating Peter Fox Jnr, Keith Hickey, Gary Soyka, and Nigel Elson 25 shots to 17 .
Nambucca Heads Women
Pat Smith reports – results of Tuesday May 1: winners were taken on a lucky draw and they were Alma Reid, Rita Foley, Maria Fischer and Margaret Lawrence.
Thursday, May 3rd, second semi-final Bryony Brownlie and Bev Jones defeated Manor Smith and Pat Fletcher 23 shots to 12. This was a better game than the score indicates as good bowls was played by both teams.
The final of the Pairs Championship will be played between Bryony and Bev and Vicki Wright and Myra McKay. Good bowling to both teams.
Nambucca Heads Men
Jen Forne reports – last Wednesday’s Monthly Medal and GNSW Round 3 had 30 starters. Overall winner, from B Grade was Ann Antcliff with 70 nett. A Grade was won by Gillian Anderson 74 nett, beating Kerry Naylor on a countback. Leanne Welsh was runner-up in B Grade with 74 and Linda Fuller won C Grade with 77 nett followed by Peta Giddey with 82.
Gross winners: Division 1 Kerry Naylor 88, Div 2 Ann Antcliff 95 and Div 3 Linda Fuller 113. Nearest the pins on 5th, Div 1 Henny Oldenhove, Div 2 Mavis Davis and Div 3 Linda Fuller. Angela Paton won the pizza on the 13th and Joy Green won the pro pin on the 18th.
The putting competition was won by Glenys Thompson with 26. Next week is the CNC Seniors Tournament at Sawtell on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Fred Pope reports – Wednesday May 2 saw the Club Selected Triples. There were 30 bowlers. 1st place $10 winners were Maurie Roberts, Bob Summerville and Geoff Hartmann. 2nd place $5 winners were Fred You, Hans Oldenhove and Mick Boyle. 3rd place winners were Jack Sinclair, Bob Dunkley and Darren Jones. Lucky losers were Ray Hunt, Ray Long and Tony Stokes. The $15 lucky bowler was Geoff Hartmann. The jackpot of $150 was not won.
Friday’s Nominated Men’s Triples attracted 60 bowlers. The $15 first prize winners were John Hunt, Bill Miernik and Mick Targett. The 2nd place $10 prize winners were Brian Bevan, Jack Young and Tony Stokes. The third place $5 winners were Darryl Lawrence, Dave Ogilvy and Kev Lill. The lucky losers were Wayne Bolton, Bill Watts and Peter Meehan. The $15 lucky bowler was John McCullom. The jackpot of $120 was not won.
Would all bowlers please note that the Ken Howard Tournament is only a matter of four weeks away. The Friday Triples sheet is up on the board and any interested players please put your team in. The cost is $30 per team. The main three day fours event is almost fully booked but any team or individual players who would like to put their names down as subs would be appreciated
Scotts Head Men
Gary Bishop reports – round 2 of the pennants was played on Saturday and that saw Scotts Head travelling to Kempsey Macleay RSL. The match was played in good conditions on perfect greens. Unfortunately Scotts was outplayed on the day with one rink drawing to give us half-a-point. On Saturday we travel to Park Beach.
Next Wednesday will see a double-header at Scotts Head – both semi-finals of the Minor Singles are to be played to decide the finalists. One match sees P Kemp against G Dallwitz while in the other P Bishop will face H Petersen.
Rink winners for Wednesday May 2 were C Moore, G Lynes and B Killen.
Urunga Women
Pat Chapman reports – Urunga Women's Bowling Club is in the envious position of having eight umpires to call on to officiate during major events. Jean Dew and Brenda Fane have been carrying the load for some years but towards the end of 2017 another six members successfully passed the extremely rigorous examinations to qualify for this prestigious role.
The UWBC's Biggest Morning Tea in aid of the NSW Cancer Council is to be held on Tuesday May 22 and there is a notice on the board with full details. Please get your names and teams in by Thursday May 17
The semi-final of the major fours played last Thursday resulted as follows: Elaine Cameron, Faye Puckeridge, Ros Hancock, Lorraine Carlon defeated Jenny Foster, Gloria Christian, Margaret Baldwin, Beryl Titmuss 25/14; Colleen Katen, Sylvia Mitchell, Sally Welsh, Robyn Adams defeated Helen Hoffman, Bev Cloake, Lynne Tarrant, Jo Bathgate 25/15. Elaine's team will now meet Colleen's team in the final to be played this week.
Also this week Janine Brown and Jo Bathgate will battle it out for the club singles championship and with both bowlers in top form this promises to be a hard fought entertaining match.
Urunga teams performed well at the district triples last week with Colleen Katen, Sylvia Mitchell and Robyn Adams reaching the quarter-finals while Elaine Cameron, Ros Hancock and Lorraine Carlon did particularly well to reach the semi-finals going down narrowly to a Sawtell team.

Julee Townsend reports – on Saturday a Stableford Monthly Medal was played. Scores overall were not impressive but hard to find a reason why.
