But the Macksville Ex-Services Club was up to the ask, as it served as the venue today for the CWA Mid North Coast Group meeting.
Group publicity officer Merrie Hunt explained that the meeting covered 18 CWA branches, from Nambucca Heads in the north to Bulahdelah in the south and west to Gloucester.
A focal point of the meeting was the judging of the land cookery competition, and being a November gathering, steamed puddings were in abundance.
Group cookery officer Denise Hawdon said two major prizes – thanks to a donation by Gwen Garrow of Wauchope branch – were awarded.
The boiled fruit cake section was trumped by Barbara Reichert, while Joan Bagnell was unstoppable in the steamed pud.

The meeting featured a special guest in local celebrity author Karly Lane, who was also on hand to sign copies of her books.
Group president Margaret Breust said a role of the meeting was to brief Mid North Coast members of developments at State level.
“It’s a way to spread the message of how people are doing things,” Margaret told the Guardian.
Today’s congress at Macksville is one of four Group meetings held over the year, while the next State Conference will be at Armidale in 2018.
