DRESSED to thrill, the crowd at the 2017 Kempsey Cup was on-point for arguably the Macleay Valley’s social highlight of the calendar.
Locals and visitors alike are pouring through the gates, while overhead the weather gods are wooing a big turnout with mostly clear skies and a pleasing breeze.
Many have come in their Sunday, or should that be Saturday night, best. Eye-catching dresses, tailored suits, polished shoes and hats and fascinators in all shapes make for a colourful, buzzing canvas.
The guest-list has come from as afield as Queensland, as well as a motza of locals. Most are trackside as groups – mates, girlfriends, mothers and sons, and couples.
All excited about a great afternoon of racing, drinks and fashions.
The Cup itself is due to start at 5.15pm.
