The finalists of the Your Health Link National Photographic Competition have been announced, selected from a record 1300 entries received from across Australia.
The photographic competition, run by the Mid North Coast Local Health District, is offering more than $45,000 in prizes in a range of categories including open, mobile, primary and high schools.
The competition’s focus is to increase health literacy and decrease childhood obesity through the exciting medium of photography, where community members are given the topic ‘Healthy Life Healthy You’ to actively participate in creating visual images that represent the subject matter.
Competition organiser and Your Health Link Program Manager Carolyn Guichard said the standard of the photos submitted was very high and the theme of Healthy Life, Healthy You was interpreted in some really unique and creative ways in the entries.
“Our judges were looking for images that represented a healthy and active lifestyle when selecting the winning photos,” Ms Guichard said.
The competition featured a specific section for primary and high schools, with prizes for students and their schools.
The winners for each category will be revealed at the Opening Night of the Competition Exhibition which will be held at the Glasshouse Port Macquarie on November 17.
The finalists and winners’ entries will then be displayed the following day in a public exhibition at the Glasshouse from 10am to 4pm.
