A hardworking Nambucca Heads dad is making plans to spend more time with his family and buy a farm after discovering this afternoon he is now $25 million richer!
The local man in his 30s held one of the two division one winning entries across Australia in last night’s Powerball draw, draw 1114 on Thursday, September 21.
After a morning of wild speculation about who the region’s newest multi-millionaire winner could be, the man came forward to NSW Lotteries this afternoon with the winning entry.
“Oh it’s beautiful! It’s amazing! I don’t know what to think!” the man exclaimed.
“I was at work and I saw on Facebook that there had been a win in the region so I thought I better check my ticket.
“I just couldn’t believe it. I’m stunned. It’s beautiful!”
In addition to the mouth-watering division one prize of $25 million, the man’s PowerHit entry also delivered him division two 19 times, bolstering his total prize to $25,611,427.60.
“It couldn’t have come at a better time. It’s been a bit of a rough time lately,” he shared.
“With this win I can take some time off work, buy myself a farm and enjoy time with my family.”
The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his winning 2-game PowerHit entry at Nambucca Heads Newsagency, 26 Bowra Street.

A very lucky someone who bought a lotto ticket from the Nambucca Heads Newsagency has 25 million reasons to smile.
“It’s the first division one prize we’ve sold in 16 years,” newsagency owners Warwick and Darlene Lean said.
“I knew it was coming,” Warwick said.
“Urunga has just had one, so did the Plaza and Macksville—it had to be us next.”
There were only two division one winning entries across Australia in last night’s Powerball draw, draw 1114 on Thursday, September 21,each receiving a prize of $25 million.
The golden ticket from Nambucca Heads was unregistered, and so the two newsagency owners have no idea who the winner is and are eagerly waiting to see who comes in to claim their prize.
“I’ve just got a feeling it’s someone local, who really needs it.”

Warwick said that the store has been flooded with locals coming in to check their tickets since he posted about the win on Facebook this morning.
“It’s getting around, I heard it on the radio before too,” Warwick said.
The other winning entry was held by a Keilor East grandmother who purchased her entry at Milleara Mall Lotto in Keilor East.
As the Nambucca Heads entry was not registered to a NSW Lotteries Players Club card, officials have no way to contact the winner.
The winning ticketholder is urged to contact the Lott as soon as possible on 131 868 to begin the prize claim process.
Australia’s Official Lotteries - the Lott spokesperson Matt Hart said last night’s Powerball jackpot was one of the most hotly anticipated draws of the year.
“Last night’s Powerball jackpot was the equal second-largest jackpot offered to date this year and yesterday outlets across the country reported brisk Powerball trade right up until the draw close,” Matt said.
“Today we look forward to breaking the winning news to our two new multi-millionaires!
“Most importantly, if you bought an entry in last night’s Powerball draw in Nambucca Heads in New South Wales, there are 25 million reasons why it would pay for you to immediately check your entry.
“Imagine winning $25 million, but not knowing it! I suspect your weekend plans will change dramatically once you hear the news!”
The winning numbers in Powerball draw 1114 on Thursday 21 September 2017 were 26, 17, 2, 10, 25 and 23, while the all-important Powerball number was 5.
