The appeal comes as figures show almost 20,000 children and young people in NSW are unable to live safely at home.
Uniting, which has been taking care of disadvantaged and vulnerable children, young people and families for more than 100 years, are holding information evenings across the Mid North Coast for those interested in becoming foster carers.
“We aim to bust the myths of foster care and let people know we are seeking big-hearted people from all walks of life,” Vanessa Lewis, Carer Recruitment Team Leader said.
“Even if a family can only provide care once a month, that’s still going to help. We need a range of people to provide different types of care including emergency care, respite, short-term, guardianship and adoption.”
The information evening will be held at the Nambucca Community and Arts Centre – 19 Ridge Street, Nambucca Heads on 10th August at 6.30pm.
