Hosts Macksville led 2-1 at the break, with their first coming from a penalty.
Nambucca levelled with a penalty of their own shortly after the resumption – but Macksville found another gear and the Stingers added a third. The home side could have made it four from a dottie only to be denied by a brilliant save by Strikers keeper Corey Forbes.
It was a bruising encounter at times with both sides guilty of some heavy challenges. It was also an engaging match of contrasting styles as Nambucca worked the ball around the pitch and sought to play with width while Macksville were happy to sit back but play direct, and with speed, when on the ball.
