THIS past week has been a little slow on the fishing side of things, at least here on the magnificent Nambucca coast.

A few anglers are reporting some nice tailor up to 2.5kg from the washes on the early morning tide.
The steady movement of the luderick anglers has continued as they steadily go about their business with long rods and tiny hooks.
I mentioned last week that a few young guys were heading to Copeton Dam and sure enough I found their camp on the Saturday afternoon and set up my swag while talking to the boys to see what action they had experienced.
The morning before I arrived they had been up into the headwaters of the dam where the river flows in and had nailed a few cod up to 78cm while young Tyler lost a big metre-plus fish on a chatterbait.
It seems big cod fever is spreading as another bunch of not so young Nambucca Valley guys head to the big dam for a weekend of fishing, socialising and of course drinking (you have to stay hydrated) although I think we will be crowning the whiskey champ if I know these boys well enough!
I hope they have a blast and learn a trick or two for the return trip.
