It is an impressive longevity, as is the innings of show secretary John Harris, who has been coordinating the event from his desk and phone for the last 42 years.
“Its all looking good but you never actually know until the day,” John said.
Committee member Peter Trisley said all was well for the horses with stables in Macksville and neighboring towns fully booked.
He said numbers were good for show jumping and trotting as well as both dairy and beef cattle.
Poultry and dogs will also be gathering in their usual numbers.
Tomorrow will feature camp draft and ring events including show jumping and trotting.
The pavilion, with its magnificent display of locally-grown produce and art, will be open and is not to be missed.
Saturday highlights this year include the Lumberjack Show, which will have three performances.
Woodchopping and ring events are all on the program plus ute barrel racing, all the sideshows and the spectacular fireworks display from 8pm followed by the finale Demolition Derby.
The opening honours will be done by former show director and current cattle steward Bryan Watts, who together with his wife Marion, are long time beef exhibitors.
Alongside the main game on Saturday, there will be the Youth Chill Out Space, a place for youth to chill, listen to music, access free water, youth health and other information.
Entertainment includes local performer Natalie Brandolini and seven piece funky soul group, The Brothers.
Just near the cow pavilion, the action starts from 4.30pm with an open mic and the main acts starting at 7.00.
Saturday’s free bus service will be departing every half hour from noon to 10pm from the Macksville Post Office.
There will be 2pm and 5pm pick ups at Nambucca Plaza and Nambucca Heads Police Station, returning at 10pm.
