Nambucca golfers edge Sawtell to win Celtic Shield

NAMBUCCA Heads lady golfers squared off against Sawtell last Wednesday for the traditional battle between the two clubs for the Celtic Shield.

This year the game was played at Nambucca where the hosts were successful, winning 252 stabelford points to 191.

The Island ladies were delighted to welcome the 11 players from Sawtell.

The individual winner of the day, with a great score of 37 points, was Wendy Ritchie.

A Grade winner was Linne Street, 33, with Henny Oldenhove, 31, runner-up. In B-Grade Lyn Vidler, 32, was winner with Sue Seymour, 31, runner-up. The runner-up in C-Grade, also with a good score of 36, was Kerry Shearer. NTPs went to Lyn Vidler and Deb Broderick on the 5th, Nicole Purser won the pizza and the 18th went to Georgina Spinaze.

Congratulations to the Dolphins pennant team who beat the MV Magpies 4/1 at Kempsey. Unfortunately the Stingrays were beaten 4/1 by Bonville.

The next game on April 26 will be a 4BBB, the qualifying round for the NSW Bowl.
