Its the one time of the year when the Verandah Post Patchworkers really step out in all their fabricated glory in a show all of their own.
Tucked at the back of the Remnant Basket in Macksville, there are groups working away most days of the week – patchworkers, quilters and embroiderers … all are there with their pins, needles and their machines.
On Friday when the Guardian dropped into the ‘sweat shop’, the women were busy completing works for the show.
The company, the challenge and the beautiful fabrics were some of the reasons given for this shared passion.
The Guardian was particularly taken by Bev Atkinson’s definition of patchwork: “You find a piece of fabric, cut it up and then sew it back together again”.
The Easter Quilt Show will be held from April 15 – 17 at the Senior Citizens Centre, Princess St, Macksville, opening from 10am to 4pm daily except Monday, when it closes at 1pm.
Entry is $5, for more information phone 6568 1829
