The decider has to be put back a week after the big wet of the weekend before, and full credit must go to those who prepared the wicket for the rescheduled fixture.
Nambucca Hotel won the toss and batted first.
With the score on 2/104 in the 30th over, the Hotel boys looked like posting 150-plus but once both captain Michael Stennett 37 and Dane Luffman 60 were dismissed, the wheels fell off and they lost the last eight wickets for 21 runs to be all out for 125.
Scotts Head’s fortunes turned on the bowling of spinner BJ Martin, who ripped through the middle and lower order, claiming 6/15 off six overs in a inspiring spell. Jason Borthwick and Jacob Pedrola took a wicket each.
Scotts Head in reply lost an early wicket to be 1/3 but steadied the ship with Jeff Hannah 14 and Lee Pedrola 16 keeping the scoreboard ticking over. Again there was a middle and lower order collapse, seeing Scotts Head lose six wickets for just 12 runs to fall well short of the target, all out for 74.
Daniel Ledger did the damage with 5/7 off five overs with some accurate seam bowling. Jason Ahearn picked up two wicket,s with a wicket each to Curtis Ellis and Mick Townsend.
Nambucca Hotel were declared the winners by 51 runs.
Hotel were also the undefeated A Grade premiers for 2016/17.
The presentation followed the match, when president Daniel Ledger thanked the committee members, umpires and clubs for their efforts throughout the season and the groundsmen for looking after the wicket all season. These are all volunteer positions and the time people give to help out is much appreciated.
The NVCA A grade interdistrict team were champions for the second year running and the over 40s team were runners-up.
