A total of 23 beasts were donated to the special event to be sold as part of the fortnightly cattle auction, with all money raised going towards helping respected Macksville man, Steve Wood.
Steve suffered severe spinal injuries after a serious tractor accident on his property earlier this year. He is still in hospital and reportedly has minimal movement of his limbs.
Graziers reached the significant sum at the cattle auction, exceeding all expectations of muster organiser Jack Stanton from GJ Kennedy & Co.
“The community has really pulled together,” Jack said.
“It’s great for a small community. People dug deep and we’ve had some generous cash donations as well.
“It’s not over yet either – due to the weather several people could not attend yesterday’s auction, so we’ll have more beasts to auction in a fortnight’s time.”
