The Speedo Sprints Series consists of 50m events in all four strokes for swimmers aged 7 to 12 years and are held simultaneously at venues across NSW and ACT. The top four place-getters in each age group for each stroke in each area qualify to compete at the Speedo Sprint finals at Sydney Olympic Aquatic Centre this Sunday.
The Marlins team put in a stellar performance with seven swimmers now heading to Sydney as part of the Swimming North Coast team.
Girls 7 years: Keeley Sutton qualified in freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly. Girls 9 years: Leah Pickvance freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly. Girls 10 years: Courtney Clark butterfly.
Boys 7 years: Bailey Pickvance freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke; Kirby Welsh freestyle. Boys 9 years: Cohen Welsh freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly. Boys 10 years: Asha Searle freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke.
Leah Pickvance and Cohen Welsh have both been selected in the 7-9 years 200m freestyle and medley relays representing Swimming North Coast.
Jazmin Sutton and Brayden Clark also competed well. Six-year-old Koah Searle was too young to compete in the sprints but that didn’t stop her from cleaning up in the 25m events.
