The 17-year-old will take on Kingscliffe’s John Robinson at a fight night in Caloundra, in what is pegged to be the ‘fight of the night’.
Mitchel and John faced off at the 2016 AABLI National Titles in November, where, unfortunately things went south.
“It’s the rematch from up in Cairns for the Australian title,” Mitch told the Guardian.
“The fight up there was a really bad performance by me, I was pissed off at myself, but now I’m on a new level and I can’t wait to be back in there.”
Mitch’s trainer, and father, Ian ‘Sparra’ Stapleton, said Mitch has been putting in the hard yards ahead of Saturday’s encounter.
”Even while I was away in London, I was taking to him every day, we were talking about what he'd been doing,” Sparra said.
“Since I’ve been back, he’s got some good quality sparring in there. So his preparation is pretty good – he’s looking fit and feeling confident.”
