Denise Buchanan, Francine Edwards and Annalisa Wilson were approached by the NAIDOC committee to paint a canvas of their interpretations of the NAIDOC theme for 2016: Songlines.
Once the works were completed and unveiled during NAIDOC, the committee decided, with the artists’ permission, to donate all three to the Nambucca Valley Dialysis Unit, where a number of Gumbaynggirr elders are among the patients.
On Monday the paintings were officially handed over to the unit, much to everyone’s delight.
“The trees are amazing – they add colour to the unit brightening up the walls,” April Pritchard said.
