Daniel was competed in the junior boys (8-10 years) 800m and Cheyenne in the 11 years girls long jump, 100 m and shotput.
Both came away with bronze medals and have now qualified for the NATIONAL championships next month.
Daniel ran in the junior boys 800m and took nine seconds off his PB to finish the final in a time of two minutes 29 seconds. It is likely he will not compete at the Nationals because he is too young! The rules state that athletes must be turning 10 and Daniel has just turned nine.
Cheyenne finished 25th in the long jump, reached the semi finals of the 100 metres and was the bronze medallist in the shot put.
Congratulations to both students – the last time NHPS had a national representative was at least 10 years ago when Ben Hall represented in shot put. It's such an outstanding achievement for a small country town school.
