The side – made up of players Donna Willer, Kris Craven, Amber Notley, Kelen Crawley, Melanie Angel, Corinne Luffman, Mandy Spear, Catie Thompson, Vicki Wassens and Belinda Dalzell, and manager Nicole Hallett – contested the over 35s competitive competition in Wyong on the Central Coast for the two-day event.
They took the court a total of 10 times over the weekend, competing against sides from across the state.
Player/coach Vicki Wassens said, like last year, the competition was an eye opener with plenty of hard and well drilled teams
“It was a big step up from training and carnivals throughout the year,” Vicki told the Guardian.
“We expected it to be competitive, and we were ready.
“I’d hoped to improve on last year, but was unsure whether or not we’d be able to play the high quality netball expected for length of time needed due to some injuries.
“But we got there in the end … using experience to pull back games that were going the other way.”
We will be looking to complete the set ... hopefully gold next year.
- Vicki Wassens
Vicki said as a coach the highlight was watching her peers adjust and change their game to suit each individual situation.
“Seeing what we had coached and used in training implemented on the court was brilliant,” she said.
“It was great having Corinne Luffman back on the court with us this year too.
“And as always the laughs and team camaraderie was there and added to the whole experience.
“We’re all wanting to play again next year.
“We love it and will be looking to complete the set. From bronze last year, to silver this year and hopefully gold next year.”
