The donation comes after the VRA in 2014 offered a site at their Mann St depot for the Chamber’s sign advertising local businesses in the industrial estate. In return, each business offered to make a small annual contribution.
Chamber treasurer Tony Stokes said the VRA was a wonderful organisation that assists people in need and was proud to be supporting such an amazing local group.
VRA squad member Chris Pearson said he was delighted to receive the donation, which will keep volunteers ready, able and willing.
“This money has gone to repairs and maintenance of vehicles and equipment,” he said.
“We’re a small organisation, so a lot of our fundraising goes to everyday repairs … as much as we’d like to see a new fleet of vehicles – it’s just not possible.
“So this is the next best thing.”
The VRA are always looking for new members to join their squad.
