Saturday's seven race TAB Sky 2 program Cup meeting will see total prize money of $82,000 plus trophies and all the usual festivities take place including ‘Fashions on the Field’.
Nambucca River Jockey Club’s secretary Geoff Harris said they were expecting a “capacity crowd” for the event.
“There has been an overwhelming response and large number of people showing interest,” he said.
“The facilities are good and the track is probably in the best condition it’s ever been. NSW racing stewards have inspected it and it’s good to go.
“All the stalls will be here with food and beverages – and we’re expecting a fine and sunny day.
“Everyone is geared up and really excited.”
The Bowraville Hotel Bowraville Cup (1370m) feature race could be a battle of the girls, with a number of mares ready to fight it out for the major share of the $25,000 prize money on offer.
Taree mare Shazza's Bubbles lines up as the highest rated starter, and her mid field effort in the Moree Cup three weeks ago will have her fit for Saturday's clash with fellow Taree mare Another Valley, which has also been racing consistently.
Shazza's Bubbles has won nine races during her career including one on a heavy track which is worth noting, and a win on Saturday will push her prize money earnings over the $200,000 mark.
With Cessnock visitor Annandale Lass and Port Macquarie's Flying Kistena also having claims to Saturday's Cup, on the back of consistent form in similar company, the boys in the race will have to be at their best to figure in the finish.
Grafton gelding Lucky Meteor is a very interesting starter in the 1000m Lightning Bend Handicap, having won this race two years ago.
Lucky Meteor has had problems which have seen him not live up to his early promise, but two barrier trial wins after a long spell are enough to suggest that he'll be very difficult to pass in this dash.
However, the Grafton speedster will have to hold out Taree veteran Floral Insight which has raced well in two recent Sydney starts.
