SOMETIMES in golf you get the chance to see something out of the ordinary. Such was Saturday’s event playing with Harley Johnsen at The Island course, Nambucca Heads. Harley had never won a competition in his own right playing at club.

But this was to be his day as Harley had five 4 pointers and four 3 pointers during his round to card a score of 44 points in the 4BBB event with playing partner Dave Rosser. Combined, they had a round of 49 points to win the day.
Harley’s mentor, Allan O’Brien, would be stoked to see the results after such a long lasting commitment. Next best for the day with a good back nine holes was Ted Beaton and Paul Maxwell with a round of 45 points to keep the countback from Phil Shields and Neil Duffus, Cindi Connell and Trevor Peck, and Paul Ryan and Ron Reid.

Best individual for the day after Harley was Terry Coelli with 38 points. Ball rundown for the round went to 43 with Harry (The Dog) Parnell and Geoff Wilson the last to receive a ball.
Pins for the day went to Don Wills, Ted Beaton, Taylor Hamilton Giggins, Mark Nugent, John Nebauer and Warren Fuller went home with the money shot.
Thursday’s Dolphin Day round was taken out by Paul Ryan and he gets the Dolphin day shirt after a round of 42 points. Brad Ronan was the runner up in A division with 39 points, just one shot ahead of Dirk Prummel.
Geoff Rackham took out division 2 with a round of 37 from John Slade carding 36 points. Ball rundown was to 34 with Jason Belt, Rob Crouch and Maxine Townsend the last to receive a ball.
Pins for the day went to Greg McCoy, Rob Crouch, Drew Glasson, Aaron Taylor the pizza hole, Matt Bolt the 15th, and the money shot went to Paddy Byrne.
On Sunday a smallish field enjoyed the course with conditions at their best. Winning for the ladies was Robyn Jones with a score of 34 from Kaye McGoldrick 32 points, and for the boys Warren Fuller carded a round of 33 which was enough to get the voucher and edge out Mitch Bullen (Armidale) also on 33. Kel McGoldrick and Stuart Thorne both had a round of 32 points.
