DEFENDING champion Kath McPhail did not have it all her own way on her mission to win her fifth Major Singles Championship when she met Janine Brown in the final last Wednesday.

Janine has been in the winners’ lists on several occasions over the past 12 months and her in-form bowling posed a strong threat to the ever steady Kath. Although Kath led throughout the match with a magnificent exhibition of lawn bowls Janine continued to threaten with fantastic bowls but in the end Kath emerged the 2016 champion with a score of 25 to 20.
Congratulations to both bowlers on great bowls.
The draw for the Major Fours has now been made with the first matches to be played today so be sure to check the board.
Entries for the Major Triples are now open and will close on June 16 with play due to start on June 23.
Good luck to our bowlers playing in the District Singles next week and a reminder to management committee members that a meeting will be held immediately after lunch on Thursday, June 2.

The annual migration of Victorian visitors has started and last week we welcomed Marie Stevenson and Beryl Noblet from Morwell as well as Ruth Young from Western Australia.
We also welcomed new member Joy Nicholas who has transferred from Nambucca Heads and ‘aunty’ Phyllis Hardie a regular visitor from Macksville.
