The facility will treat grease trap waste collected from businesses within the surrounding area before sending it to the existing sewage treatment plant via a discharge pipe.
The development also includes the installation of a treatment system consisting of five 40,000 litre tanks, including two holding tanks for temporary storage.
Panel chair Garry West said the decision was made after hearing community and stakeholder submissions.
“The facility will operate during daylight hours during the week and is expected to process up to 2200 litres of waste per day,” Mr West said.
“Waste water will be able to be tested before being discharged into the sewage treatment plant under council supervision.”
The JRPP has approved the application, subject to conditions.
