And there was a threat of rain - welcomed by the farmers and the bane of show organisers - as the bumper crowd milled about the exhibits and weaved through sideshow alley and the siren of hawkers.
In a departure from the norm, the show will have two special events this evening, the Rooftop Express Australiana show from 7.30 and ute barrel racing.
