Taking the field in the Group 2 Gladiators (formerly Redbacks) senior side is Rooster Alex Hull and Sea Eagle James Collison.
No strangers to the game, or representative league sides, this talented pair were selected due to their outstanding performances over the past 12 months.
Alex said it was a privilege to be selected and to see locals scattered among the names in the side.
For James, this will be his second rep selection is as many years, although first time taking the field as injury struck before he could take the field last year.
“I’m excited to be chosen and it will be good to play because I missed out last year” he said. “It’s always good to be picked in these teams to learn new things.”
For the under 18s squad, Nambucca will be represented by Sam Grant and James Weimer, with Caleb Handley and Jacob Simpson taking the field for Macksville.
And expectations are high.
The Nambucca boys, Sam and James hope to develop their game and use the time to learn from some more experienced players.
But for Sea Eagle Jake, it’s all about beating the competition.
“It’ll be a good chance to play against some higher quality teams, and I hope to pick up some tricks at training that we can use to beat Nambucca.”
Having made the team last year, Caleb said he was hoping to give under 18s rep one last good effort.
“I’m expecting it to be hard, yet again,” he said.
“The thing I love about footy is the hard work that has to be put in week in week out. I like being active and also knowing each game is going to be different, so I’m hoping to learn anything that I will improve my game so I can make it as far as possible in the game.”
Both teams will play on Saturday, May 2 at Geoff King Sporting Complex.
The under 18s will play two games against Group 3 and NRRL from 8.30 where selectors will choose a North Coast Dolphins representative squad to play in the Country Championships.
The seniors play Group 3 at 3pm.
