A Roads and Maritime Services spokesperson said to reduce delays RMS will work with police and implement temporary traffic changes at local intersections.
“The Pacific Highway is one of the busiest roads in NSW during the Easter break,” the spokesperson said.
“During the holidays Roads and Maritime will be implementing changes to traffic lights at local intersections along the Pacific Highway at Macksville to cater for the increased traffic.
“The traffic changes will be in place from 8am to about 6pm each day depending on traffic conditions from Good Friday April 3 to Monday April 6, except Easter Sunday.”
The traffic changes include:
* Closing Partridge St at the intersection of the Pacific Highway. Pedestrians can still cross the highway at the traffic lights. North and southbound traffic can access the highway at Boundary St via the Willis St detour.
* Restricting traffic to a left turn only at the intersection of Pacific Highway and Winifred St. The southbound right turn lane into Winifred St will be closed to allow smooth flow of highway traffic through town. Motorists travelling south from Winifred St can follow the detour via Wallace, Princess and Boundary streets.
* Limiting entry at the Caltex service station to the southern entrance only.
“Electronic message signs will be placed along the Pacific Highway to alert motorists of changed traffic conditions in Macksville and expected delays," the spokesperson said.
“Effects on traffic flow during Easter will be closely monitored and changes made where required.
“After Easter the effectiveness of the traffic changes will be reviewed to inform future traffic management plans for the October long weekend and Christmas.”
