In their first match Finn Stephens as captain for the day won the toss and chose to bat.
It was the boys first ever game on turf, and they were one for 87 in their innings.
Newcastle City got the result by making 89 for the loss of one wicket, however the Macksville lads were energetic and positive in the field.
That meant Macksville’s next match would determine the third and fourth placings and they again won the toss and opted to bat against Port Macquarie.
The boys went out there knowing they needed to get the run rate up, but the wickets fell steadily as they posted nine for 77.
However they remained upbeat and their attitude had Port Macquarie in all sorts.
Port scraped home by a solitary run, with 78 runs for the loss of eight wickets.
Macksville Juniors was delighted by the boys’ performance, placing fourth in a top flight competition.
