IT WILL be a case of ‘third time lucky’ on Saturday as the Nambucca River Jockey Club attempts to stage its Girls Day Out/Centenary of Gallipoli race meeting at Bowraville Racecourse after the fixture has twice been cancelled in recent weeks due to rain.

With patchy showers predicted in the lead up to Saturday’s meeting, there is the prospect of a soft track and punters will need to take this into consideration as they look for winners.
Trainer Shannon Fry is giving his mare Pin High a last chance to lose her maiden status after 14 racetrack appearances - in a 1370m Maiden Handicap, and hopefully she can reward her connections for their patience.
Pin High’s recent midfield effort in a stronger race at Grafton will have her in the market, but Coffs Harbour gelding Amazing Moss shapes as a likely favourite after a strong finishing second at Armidale last Monday, also in better company. Both horses are something of a query in the wet.
Armidale-trained 86-start veteran Cabriole will be out to return to the winners’ list on Saturday after a log run of outs. Cabriole has won three of his six starts at Bowraville, can handle rain affected surfaces and the nine-year-old also deserves to break through again although Coffs gelding Nymboi will have other ideas.
The Bowraville track will be safe for racing on Saturday unless there are heavy downpours such as the ones which saw the meeting postponed two weeks ago, and the NRJC extends a special invitation to all girls over the age of 18 and ex-servicemen and women who will be admitted oncourse free of charge.
