President of the Nambucca Arts Council, Marlene Griffin, said the gallery, which is part of the Nambucca Entertainment Centre, had been closed since early February when heavy rain flooded the space.
“The carpet was soaked and so we had to take it up to allow it to dry out,” Marlene said.
“Council staff did come and unblock a drain and things remained dry during the recent deluge, so now we are just looking at cost options of replacing the carpet.
“We want to get the gallery open as soon as possible - not only because having it closed is not good for tourism but also there are artists wanting to hire it.”
