Sam made it to the final of the fastest gift race he has competed in so far, making it 10 finals from 10 professional races. A great achievement.
Working at establishing himself as a regular on the Open Pro Circuit, those closest to him say his success is remarkable for someone his age.
On Monday he won his heat and his elimination semi to make the final of the prestigious Australia Day Gift at Evansdale on the Gold Coast.
The photo finish saw ex-World Beach Sprint Champion, Jordan Caldow, win the $3500 first prize with Matt Davies (Australian 4 x 100 relay team member World Championships) a hair’s breath to second, Ardyn Foy (one of Aus most established Pro athletes) in third and Sam in fourth.
In the photo finish all athletes finished within 0.1sec of each other (about half a metre).
In real time it was just a blur.
Sam said he was excited to make the final and he was very happy with his fourth place.
