The 12-year-old travelled to Sydney over the weekend to compete in the championships, which are an entry level for juniors starting their swimming career.
Declan was the only Macksville Marlins swimmer who had an extremely full timetable.
His results included a time of 1.32.20 in the 100 breast, putting him in 44th position; 2.44.53 in the 200 back in 19th - where he also recorded a PB; 1.12.55 in the 100 fly in 21st; 1.06.08 in the 100 free in 39th, 2.45.35 in the 200 Medley in 29th - where he recorded another PB, 30.00 in the 50 free in 42nd; 2.26.72 in the 200 free in 33rd, 1.19.14 in the 100 back in 33rd and 2.53.57 in the 200 fly in 12th.
Although Declan was the only Marlins swimmer, he was one of 10 swimmers from Swimming North Coast who participated in 42 events from seven clubs.
Declan’s 2015 calendar is jam-packed with more swimming events during which, doubtless, time more PBs will be recorded and more medals will be added to the trophy cabinet.
