Scores of locals have posted tributes, and as special as any other has been the montage created by Tal Gosling-Bartlett of nearby Upper Warrell Creek.
Tal's teenage sons - Josh and Brodie - are talented cricketers in their own right and, like so many other local juniors, had met and idolised Phillip.
Tal's post includes an image of Phillip with the boys, and the words: "We Will Miss You Forever, Boof".
Another to post was Matthew Ramsey, who grew up in Nambucca Heads and now lives in Terrigal: "It was an absolute pleasure to play cricket with you and even against you when you were slaughtering us. My thoughts and prayers are with your parents, brother and sister".
And Aaron Gittoes of Macksville posted: "My heart goes out to his family and mate you better have that beer for me in heaven :)".
