Port Macquarie mare Hot Topic won her recent maiden at Kempsey by a convincing four lengths in TAB company, and now trainer Neil Godbolt plans to add another trophy to his big collection of country cups.
Lightly raced Kempsey gelding Cool Dragon also recently lost his maiden status at Coffs Harbour and his trainer Eddie Yabsley is looking to see if he can go to the next level in Saturday’s feature.
This pair will face stiff opposition from Ballina mare Batar Girl who has won two of her three starts at Bowraville. All of her three wins have been at the 1000 of Saturday’s dash and she has had one run from a spell to have her ready for this year’s Bellingen Cup.
Leading Taree trainer Ross Stitt is set to bring a small team to Bowraville on Saturday, and it always pays to follow his stable. Staying mare Lady With Spurs is nominated for the 2200m Lucky 7 Class One, while Blinkin Born is nominated for the 1370m T and D Sinclair Class One on the back of a maiden win at Taree in TAB company.
The annual Bellingen Cup at Bowraville has become one of the most popular race meetings on the North Coast at this time of the year and the Nambucca River Jockey Club expects Saturday’s fixture will be no different with good fields and exciting racing action on offer.
