Around 11am police attended a residence at Gumma acting on information received from Crime Stoppers relating to possible cannabis cultivation.
Police spoke to a 51-year-old man and conducted a search of the property. With help of the drug detection dog, police located a sophisticated hydroponic set up that consisted of 40 cannabis plants – they also located a small amount of cannabis leaf.
The man was interviewed and arrested and taken to Macksville Police Station where he underwent further questioning. He was charged with possession of a prohibited drug and enhanced indoor cultivation of a prohibited plant for commercial means.
He is to appear in Macksville Local Court on December 10.
“Crime Stoppers is a valuable asset to police that enables members of the public to provide information on all sorts of crimes, not only drug possession and supply,” senior detective Dave Stuart said.
“This is a clear example that police do act on information supplied via the Crime Stoppers line.”
Later the same day, around 3.25pm, police attended a residence in Nambucca Heads to execute a search warrant.
They were confronted by several hostile occupants at the property, who hindered the execution of the search warrant.
Police used a drug detection dog during the search and located amounts of cannabis and methylamphetamine.
Cannabis which was thrown into a neighbouring yard was seized by police along with property which police will allege was stolen.
A 29-year-old man was charged with possession of a prohibited drug and will appear at Macksville Local Court on the December 10.
Inquiries are continuing and police expect to charge further individuals.
