This passionate group of fans will be driving the home-grown car that has been, until recently, an intermittent but crucial part of the Australian manufacturing scene since 1967 ... not to mention being inextricably linked with the evolution of Australian domestic motor racing.
Like many others, Hunter Valley’s Ian Bird, one of the organisers of this year’s meet, grew into Fords thanks to the influence of his father.
“Dad got onto Fords as a kid in the ’70s when the cars were just being released,” Ian told the Guardian.
“I grew up with that passion around me and have been going to Bathurst almost every year for the last 20 years. I was there a few weeks ago to see Ford driver Chas Mostert take the chequered flag.
“The Ford is an iconic Australian car with a great racing heritage plus they look and sound awesome and are fun to drive.”
You can catch the cars in the main street of Nambucca Heads between 9am and noon on Saturday or at the Pub with No Beer at Taylor’s Arm on Sunday.
