The break-ins occurred in homes near the Pacific Highway, including at a retirement village where elderly residents had not locked their homes properly.
One couple, who were staying at a motel, awoke to see intruders fleeing over a balcony.
Seconds later two men, one armed with a metal pole, burst through a locked front door and demanded the elderly victim's handbag.
They fled when the man chased them with a chair.
Officers have examined the crime scene and investigations are ongoing.
