Griffith has Star Of Dubai nominated for the 1370m Bowra Hotel Bowraville Cup and recent Sydney winner Texan Lad in line for the 1000m Lightning Bend Handicap, to give him bright prospects of bagging the double.
Star of Dubai disappointed at his last start in the recent Dubbo Cup, but before that had been racing consistently in stronger company than the seven-year-old will face in the $25,000 feature at Bowraville.
Griffith’s strongest opposition should come from Taree gelding Road To Summer who boasts three wins from his past four starts and an on-pace racing style suited to the Bowraville track. Sunshine Coast visitor French Command will also have strong support from punters.
Texan Lad takes his place in the Lightning Bend after a win at Randwick in June. He is a winner of almost $200,000 and his recent good form will see him carry a huge weight in Saturday’s dash against some speedy types such as Maboots which is shooting for three wins in a row and flying Taree mare, Ms Wicked Wanda.
The Nambucca River Jockey Club expects a big crowd to attend Saturday’s Bowraville Cup meeting and enjoy all the usual cup day activities including Fashions on the Field.
