My great grandmother, Margery Therese Boyton, or known as Maridor, was born in Inverell on August 18, 1914. Maridor is the third child of Eda Maleila and Austin Donaldson.
What can I say that anyone else already knows? Maridor is the sweetest, nicest, kindest woman that I know. I have so much admiration for her as I know she has for everyone who helps her. She has the kindest nature. I often wondered if she was going to live to 100 but I could hear in her voice that she was a fighter and wasn’t going to give up without a fight. The story of her being put down in the river in a hollow log ... I think lots of people have heard.
For a couple of years, before she moved to Autumn Lodge, she lived with us, in Taylor’s Arm. There was my mum, dad, sister, brother, Maridor and I. We made a pretty good family with Maridor. She loves sitting out in the sun and watching the birds fly around her, she has always loved animals.
Maridor would always tell us stories about her childhood and we would always just sit and listen. She never judges anyone and takes them for who they are. She is such a wonderful role model.
She loves seeing her family, and everyone sees her as much as they can. Maridor loves to hear what is happening with all the kids, whether we are doing sports or dancing or singing - she loves to know. My sister Brooke sings and I play piano, so we go in there and do a couple of songs for the oldies every so often.
Everyone needs to be touched by a Maridor in their lives as it lives on in your heart.
