About 9.15pm, a 57-year-old man and a 41-year-old woman were locking up the front door of The Island Golf Club on Stuart Island, when four men armed with what was believed to be a metal pipe approached them.
Police have been told the gang demanded they open the doors, before they assaulted the man by striking him in the left arm and leg.
The offenders entered the premises, before fleeing the scene with cash, a mobile phone, car keys and a purse, and taking the woman’s Holden Commodore.
Officers attached to Mid North Coast Local Area Command were called and began investigations.
Police located the Holden Commodore in Woodbell St, Nambucca Heads, a short time later. It has been seized for forensic examination.
As police continue to investigate, they are appealing for any witnesses or anyone who saw suspicious activity in the area at the time to come forward.
The four men are only described as being of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance.
Police urge anyone with information about this incident to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333-000 or use the Crime Stoppers online reporting page: https://www1.police.nsw.gov.au/. Information you provide will be treated in the strictest of confidence.
