IT HAS long been deliberated among high school students ... which is the better school? ‘the Green School’ (Frank Partridge VC) or ‘the Red School’ (Nambucca PS).

In order to put the age old question to rest, Nambucca Heads High School captain Timothy Daley decided a sports day was a fair way to find out.
On the last day of Term 2 students from each of the schools competed against each other. Of course, the question then was - “What do we do with the students that attended other primary schools?” ... to which there was a simple answer - another team, ‘the Blue School’ was created.
The competition consisted of skipping, handball, tug-of-war and dodge ball. The green school got off to a flying start with the skipping (FPVCPS used to be known as the skipping school, funny about that I think our school captain may have attended the Green School).
Each time a student jumped the rope they scored a point. Ms Nichols was the scorer.
The Red School made some ground in the handball competition with some hotly contested matches.
The Blue School was putting its best foot forward with team members holding their own throughout the afternoon.
Then it was out to the oval for the tug-of-war. The Blue School may have been a bit outnumbered with the tug-of-war being dominated by the Red and Green School teams.
Then it was into the gym for the final contest: dodge ball.
For this players start lying down and when the whistle blows, run to collect a small soccer sized ball made of foam.
They then have to tag an opposition player with the ball. The idea is to remove all the players on the opposition team. There are also two targets that have to be knocked down.
Students were ducking and diving all over the court. James Weimer made a heroic effort in the final game.
This was a fantastic afternoon with staff and students alike involving themselves - the quadrangle was full of skipping ropes and students.
And as for the outcome to the quandary ... well, no matter which school you originated from, when you get together at Nambucca Heads High, it makes for a great school.
