The convincing 60-22 win against Tweed Heads (in Yamba) puts the girls in good stead for the finals - a two-day competition against the best schools from the other regions, in Sydney on September 2.
“This win makes the team North Coast Champions,” coach Helen Black told the Guardian.
“I was hoping for this result as they won last year … and it is the same group, just older and wiser.
“This team is made up of experienced and extremely talented girls so getting the team ready was easy.
“They played outstanding netball and it was an absolute pleasure to watch.”
The Macksville side has made the competition look easy, taking out their first win back in March … they then went on to play Wauchope and Grafton, where they beat both convincingly.
Tweed team came out strong, showing Macksville some tough competition, but it didn’t take long for them to take control, and show their dominance.
“As the rep season is over, I had some concerns about the girls getting complacent and losing match fitness,” Helen said.
“Thankfully representative players from the NVNA (Nambucca Valley Netball Association) have volunteered their Monday nights to play the girls and it has been extremely valuable.
“We have three weeks before we play again so we’ll be training hard and utilising these Monday night games.”
